JACKIE MATUBIA’S FATHER PASTOR MWANGI LAID TO REST IN GITHUNGURI

Actress Jackie Matubia’s father Pastor Mwangi Macharia was laid to rest on June 17, 2025 in Githunguri.

The ceremony was attended by close family members, friends, and notable figures from Kenya’s entertainment industry. Among them was content creator Milly Chebby, who shared a touching tribute to Matubia and her family.

“It is well, @jmatubia, it is well, Sissy 💜💜💜💜,” Chebby posted on social media. “Yesterday at Jackie’s dad’s funeral in Githunguri… May the love Dad left behind be your comfort and strength. Sending you, Mum, and siblings peace and grace during this time. Holding you all close in thought and prayer as you lead the family 🫂🫂🫂🫂.”

Matubia announced the passing of her father on June 9, 2025, the heartbroken star shared the news on her social media with an emotional tribute, “Heaven surely couldn’t wait for you, my Father 💔💔💔💔.”

Matubia first revealed her father’s cancer diagnosis in June 2024, detailing his battle throughout multiple chemotherapy treatments. Despite the physical toll, her father remained a pillar of strength.

During a past family gathering, her father, Mwangi, openly spoke about his cancer journey, saying that it was not a death sentence. In a moving speech, he credited his recovery to his deep faith and the support of his family, “It depends on how you interact with your God. I know my God, she [Matubia] knows my God, and my family knows my God. I’m healed.”

Reflecting on his lowest moments, he added, “There was a time I was 47kg less than a bag of cement. See, my hair is still intact. If you are going through such a thing, just know there is a God in heaven, a healer. Haijalishi unapitia nini (it doesn’t matter what you are going through). There’s always God.“
