ROBERT ALAI BREAKS SILENCE OVER CLAIMS OF GRABBING LAND IN RUNDA

Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has publicly responded to accusations of involvement in a land dispute in Nairobi’s upscale Runda Estate. The matter, currently under review at the Environment and Land Court, was initiated by Cancer Investments Limited.

In an official statement released on June 30, Alai refuted claims of wrongdoing and accused Ahmed Mukhtar, director of Cancer Investments Limited, of orchestrating a smear campaign against him. “Since the filing of this lawsuit, Ahmed Mukhtar, Cancer Investments and their lawyer have engaged in a deliberate and sustained effort to malign my character and reputation through inflammatory statements and unfounded allegations in the public domain,” Alai stated.

This conduct, which has continued unabated despite the matter being active before a competent court, appears designed to prejudice the judicial process and secure favourable orders through public pressure rather than legal merit.

Alai further alleged that Mukhtar had resorted to unethical tactics, including hiring goons to vandalise the disputed property in an effort to sway the court’s decision.

Ahmed Mukhtar who has previously hired 500 goons to destroy the property in the same piece while the matter is alive in court and has approached at least 6 other criminals to effect his illegalities, has sustained his acts of bullying of myself and the courts to push the court to rule in his favour.

The MCA cautioned Mukhtar against further defamatory statements, warning of potential legal consequences. He also expressed faith in the judiciary to deliver a fair resolution. “I have complete confidence in the

Judiciary of Kenya to adjudicate this matter fairly and conclusively. The Environment and Land Court, presided over by the Honourable Justice Mohamed N. Kullow, is competent to examine the evidence and determine the truth.”

Despite the controversy, Alai reassured his constituents that his commitment to serving Kileleshwa remains. “To the residents of Nairobi City County, I assure you that this dispute will not distract me from my commitment to serve you diligently. I remain steadfast in advocating for transparency, accountability, and the protection of your rights.” he concluded.

The dispute gained public attention after a video surfaced showing a group forcibly removing Mukhtar from the property. Speaking to the press afterward, Mukhtar, accompanied by his lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui, maintained that he legally acquired the land in 1992. “In July 1992, I bought the property in Runda, which has been taken over by hooligans associated with Robert Alai. On March 31, 2025, I found Robert Alai on my property, and he chased me away from it. Immediately, I talked to my lawyers and we filed a suit,” Mukhtar stated.
