SAFARICOM DENIES INVOLVEMENT IN SHARING INFORMATION LINKED TO THE ARREST OF ALBERT OJWANG’

Safaricom has denied recent allegations linking the company to the arrest of the late Albert Omondi Ojwang’.

In a statement released by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Peter Ndegwa read, “Our attention has been drawn to the disturbing news by a section of leaders associating Safaricom with the arrest of the late Albert Ojwang’. From the outset, Safaricom wishes to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Albert during this difficult time,” he said.

The company categorically denies any involvement in the matter, stating: At no point was there any contact between Safaricom and any security agency regarding the investigation or arrest of the late Ojwang’Safaricom only became aware of the arrest through media reports. The remarks made by Honorable Justin Muturi linking Safaricom to the incident are unfounded and concerning.

We also ask our leaders to push for credible, transparent and timely investigation that will bring the perpetrators to justice and give the family and Kenyans the answers they are looking for.” added Dr. Ndegwa.

Safaricom reassures all customers and the public that the company adheres to the highest standards of data privacy and security. “We wish to reassure all Kenyans that we have always been safe and secure in how to handle their data, and we will continue to do so now and in the future.” Dr. Ndegwa affirmed.
