SINGER KELIS SON JOINS KENYAN NATIONAL SWIMMING TEAM
Grammy-nominated artist Kelis has opened up about her family’s move to Kenya, revealing that her eldest son, Knight Jones, is now proudly representing the country as a member of the Kenya National Swimming Team.
What began as a spontaneous trip funded by Kelis for her sister evolved into a life-changing relocation. “We packed for a month, went to Zanzibar, then Kenya next thing I knew, we’d been here six months,” Kelis shared.
Impressed by Kenya’s seamless blend of modern living and natural beauty, she decided to stay long-term. “Kenya had everything I needed to live the life I was used to back home,” she said. The singer, now a legal resident with a work permit has fully embraced her new chapter, bringing along her mother, aunt, and children to build a home in East Africa.
The transition was toughest for her eldest son, Knight whom she shares with rapper Nas. However, he has not only adjusted but thrived earning a spot on Kenya’s national swimming squad. “He loves it here, he’s got friends, and now he’s on the National Kenyan swimming team” Kelis proudly shared.
The family’s move marks a fresh start after personal hardships, including the passing of Kelis’ late husband, Mike Mora, in 2022. Today, Kenya represents rebirth, opportunity, and belonging for the singer and her three children: Knight, Shepherd, and Galilee.
