STAN SALEH SLAMS COMEDIANS-TURNED-POLITICIANS FOR FAILING KENYANS
Popular comedian Stan Saleh made headlines during a recent appearance on the Buzz Central podcast, where he openly criticised fellow comedians-turned-politicians for what he described as a failure to deliver meaningful change.
In a conversation with host Cheptoek Boyo, Saleh was asked if he would follow in the footsteps of comedians like MC Jessy and Jalang’o by joining politics. His response was blunt, “Politics corrupts. I have never understood this because all the people we thought like KJ (John Kiarie) would go and help us, but they become MPs, and it’s like they left their brains at the door of Parliament. Immediately, they start talking about stupid things. Jalang’o used to be vocal and do fundraisers; nowadays, nothing. He’s just there to attend weddings and sign his signature in Parliament.“
Saleh shared frustration with what he sees as a trend of entertainers entering politics only to become ineffective. “I don’t know what happens to the people we look up to. They join politics and just disappear. We need a society where people join to serve not to get money, opportunities, or protect themselves from indictment. That’s the wrong mentality. If we had a society where the private sector was thriving, people would only be interested in politics if they genuinely wanted to serve, like in other countries. That’s why we have MC Jessy and KJ joining politics and doing nothing.“
Stan known for his sharp wit and social commentary, made it clear that he has no plans to enter politics anytime soon, calling for a shift in mindset among those seeking leadership roles.
