Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has issued a fiery response after being ejected from Parliament on July 1, over his attire, questioning the qualifications of fellow legislators in parliament.

The controversial lawmaker, dressed in full advocate’s regalia, was ordered out by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula following a point of order raised by Mathare MP Tom Oluoch. The dramatic confrontation began when Oluoch challenged Owino’s legal attire, “If I look at the speaker’s panel, including yourself, you are dressed in a collar. Is it in order that the member from Embakasi East walks and sits in the house dressed as the speaker? We need guidance on whether this forms part of the proper dressing code of this house.”

Speaker Wetang’ula ruled he had to leave the parliament, Indeed, Babu Owino, you are improperly dressed. Even your seniors (counsels) have never turned up dressed like that. I order you to retreat from the house, dress up and come back.

Babu took to social media and issued a statement, “The Speaker ejected me from Parliament yet I spent six years earning my Law Degree (4 years) plus two years completing my KSL Advocates Training Program, pupillage and admission to the Bar, while other MPs only spent five minutes to buy a tie. Who should be in Parliament?
