Real Housewives of Nairobi breakout star Farah Esmail recently shared her experience with egg freezing in an interview with Cheptoek Boyo on Buzz Central Podcast

Addressing scandals surrounding failed fertility cases, Farah revealed she froze her eggs at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the U.S., calling it an ‘insurance policy’. “The whole thing about egg freezing came about because of women who had cancer. It’s obviously better to freeze the egg with the sperm in it, so you don’t have to defrost the sperm then refreeze. I have six eggs which are not fertilised. There are studies that said when something’s has been frozen that long won’t work, but then there studies saying otherwise, I think in the end, if you’re meant to have those children with those eggs, and God intended, then you will have those children” she revealed.

Having preserved her eggs at 37, she now advises women to consider the procedure before 30. “I froze my eggs at 37 but really, you should be doing it at least before you’re in your 30s, because after 30 our fertility goes down and the quality of the eggs goes down.”

While her own process was covered by U.S. insurance, she noted the growing accessibility of fertility preservation in KenyaFarah also touched on her divorce, revealing she had two eggs with ex-husband, which she will never use, “I had two with my eggs with my ex-husband which I will not use, obviously, because we’re no longer together.
