‘I’M FLUID’ SHEILA KWAMBOKA ON HOW SEXUALITY HAS BEEN USED TO SHAME HER

Popular media personality Sheila Kwamboka has spoken out against the persistent use of her sexuality to shame and discredit her.

Speaking in an interview, the former Big Brother Africa star and radio host addressed the backlash she has faced since publicly identifying as sexually fluid.

It was one of the most publicised things about me when I was in Big Brother, my sexuality. I’ve always been clear: I’m fluid. It’s never been a secret,” Kwamboka stated. “But lately, people try to use it against me. Honestly? That’s none of my business. I am who I am, and I don’t live for anyone’s approval.”

Kwamboka revealed that her openness about her identity has often been weaponised, recalling a particular incident when media personality Andrew Kibe accused her of “bringing a lesbian agenda” to Kiss FM. “I don’t even know Kibe. It was uncalled for, especially since he once wanted me to do a podcast with him,” she said. “Our values are clearly different. I considered addressing it because people were attacking me, but I realised it was just another attempt to shame me.”

While she has dated men in the past, Kwamboka has faced relentless scrutiny, with critics using her fluidity to undermine her career and credibility. “I’m very true with who I am, so what I like is what I like. My past relationships have been guys so it’s a nice balance.”
