‘ARRIVE 5 HOURS EARLY’ FKF PRESIDENT HUSSEIN MOHAMMED ISSUES NEW ORDERS TO FANS
As the Harambee Stars prepare to face Zambia this Sunday at Kasarani Stadium, football authorities are making an appeal to Kenyan fans to help create a safe and electrifying atmosphere.
FKF President Hussein Mohammed has encouraged ticket holders to arrive early “Five hours before kick off with your ticket ready on your mobile phone for quick verification. Don’t wait until the last minute. If you are trying to come to the stadium at two o’clock, if the game is at three, you are too late. Please come to the stadium early,” said Mohammed.
The call for early arrival comes after strict security measures following an incident last weekend where scores of fans jumped over the fence to access the stadium. Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen also made a public plea, “The fans are extremely important for us. In fact they call the fans the 12th player, and we do not want to miss the opportunity to have the fans. I therefore, from a security perspective, would like to beg all Kenyans to really avoid going to the stadium unless you have a ticket. It is going to reflect badly on us. It is going to give us security problems.”
Confederation of African Football (CAF) has taken a step to avoid a repeat of security breaches at the venues during Harambee Stars’ matches. Reducing fan attendance at the stadium by 40 per cent. Only 27,000 fans will henceforth be allowed to attend Kenya’s matches at the 48,000-seater stadium in Nairobi during the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship.
