Renowned Nairobi-based fashion designer to the stars, Bolo Bespoke, has addressed public about his lifestyle, clarifying why he has chosen to prioritise a life in the city over building a rural home.

In a social media revelation, the designer said he comes from an extremely humble background. He shared his journey of hustling from the bottom, including running a chips business and other ventures to survive after his father passed away immediately after he completed his Form Four education.

The funny thing is that most of you think that I have so much to hide, bro, I don’t have anything to hide, because from where we come from, sh$t was extremely bad,” Bolo stated. “I’m only a tailor, so you guys need to give me a break.”

Despite his current success and lavish image in the capital, the designer he started earning serious income after a decade in the fashion industry. “I had to make a decision as a man,” he explained. “Do I first put Nairobi better, or do I focus on the village, a home that I will not be in every day? Or do I first of all get a home in Nairobi and take care of my children’s education and ensure that we have a life in Nairobi first?

Choosing to secure his children’s future and establish a stable life in the city where he works as priority. He confirmed that while he built a house for his mother years ago, he does not yet have a home in his village, “The bottom line is I have never had the chance to build for myself a decent home in the village… So for all of you that think I have anything to hide, bro, I don’t have anything to hide. And to give you the hard truth so that you deal with it once and for all, I don’t have a home in the village. The world is not ending today.” The designer concluded by saying finally come to build that new home.
