‘HE HAS BEEN AVOIDING US’ FRED AROCHO ON BAHATI USING HARAMBEE STARS FOR CLOUT
Renowned Swahili football commentator Fred Arocho has challenged musician Bahati to honour his KSh1 million pledge to the Harambee Stars following their match against Morocco.
Arocho, speaking on a radio show, revealed that Bahati has been avoiding accountability since making the public promise. Before the Kenya vs. Morocco match at Kasarani Stadium, Bahati and his wife, Diana Marua, vowed to reward the team KSh1 million if they won. “We will be carrying this money to Kasarani, and if Harambee Stars beat Morocco…we will enter the field and give the players.”
However, after the match on August 17, players confirmed on Citizen TV that only President William Ruto’s pledge had been honoured. “Bahati had said it was about KSh1 million…but for us, the money we’ve received is only from the president. Najua tu Bahati because we saw him on TikTok.”
Arocho, who has been following up on the pledge, shared his frustration, “Bahati is my friend, but here there are no stories of friendship. He has been avoiding us telling McDonald Mariga he was ‘in Naivasha’ or ‘not around.’ Two weeks later, nothing. Let me warn Bahati: you will remove that money. You cannot use Kenyan players for clout.”
