‘IT WAS DARK’ MUNGAI EVE OPENS UP ABOUT DEPRESSION
Popular Kenyan digital content creator Eve Mungai has revealed her recent private battle with depression and her reasons for stepping back from the public eye.
In a post on her Instagram, Mungai disclosed that the period between April and June of this year was the toughest time of her life. “I spent most days in bed, barely eating, wishing it would all just end. It was dark.”
She said prayers made her stronger and better, “But I prayed hard, leaned on my family and a few close friends, and slowly found my way back,” Mungai shared. “Seeking help and allowing myself to be supported made all the difference. I’m grateful to be here, stronger, and healing.”
Mungai also confirmed she is currently single and focused on her wellbeing. She explained her absence from creating celebrity interviews, “After 5 years of the same routine, I finally got tired! I realised I had lost myself chasing the bag, chasing people’s dreams and not my own,” she explained.
She hinted she will be making a comeback soon, “I took some time off to rediscover Eve, to figure out what I truly love and one thing’s for sure, I belong on the screens. The comeback is personal this time. Because life is so much more than burnouts and just making money.”
