Popular Kenyan actor and media personality Martin Githinji, also known as Daddie Marto, has publicly addressed his separation from wife and content creator Koku Lwanga in a statement shared on his social media platforms.

In the post titled “For the Record,” Githinji revealed that the couple separated in December 2024, with the break up finalised by March 2025. He moved out in April but stated his continued commitment to co-parenting and financial responsibilities, including household expenses, school fees, and medical cover.

I have lost my family as I knew it,” Githinji wrote. “But none of that compares to the pain of losing my family. Still, I will not allow my life, my name, and my livelihood to be tried in the court of public opinion.”

The actor refuted claims of abandonment or coercion, providing evidence of support through payment records. He also addressed a recent altercation, stating he acted in self-defense after an escalation at his residence, which left him with an eye injury. The matter is currently under police investigation.

“I returned home accompanied by a friend when I was unexpectedly confronted at my doorstep during an ongoing video call. The interaction rapidly escalated into a heated exchange. While attempting to de-escalate and relocate the confrontation from the entrance area, I experienced repeated physical contact. The situation intensified in full view of neighbours, resulting in a visible injury to my eye.“

Githinji shared his frustration over misrepresentation in the media, citing lost work opportunities and partnerships due to what he termed “one-sided narratives.”

I’ve lost work, opportunities, partnerships, and relationships. But none of that compares to the pain of losing my family. Still, I will not allow my life, my name, and my livelihood to be tried in the court of public opinion.”

He has since instructed lawyers to pursue legal action to halt further public attacks“I have instructed my lawyers to file a suit to stop the ongoing attacks and to seek resolution through legal channels, quietly, respectfully, and conclusively.”

The actor said he is dedicated to co-parenting and private healing. “Grace is not weakness,” he concluded. “It is a choice, one I am still making, every day.
