LUPITA NYONG’O CELEBRATES HER CAT YOYO’S 4TH BIRTHDAY

Academy Award-winning actress and global style icon Lupita Nyong’o is celebrating a very special milestone: her cat Yoyo’s 4th birthday! 

The Black Panther star took to social media to share adorable snaps and a tribute to her four-legged friend, gushing, “It’s Yoyo’s 4th birthday, y’all!! We may still speak different languages, but man, how we understand each other! I love my kitty, something fierce.”

Nyong’o, who once admitted to being “historically afraid of cats,” revealed that Yoyo came into her life at the right moment. In an emotional Instagram post on October 28, 2023, she introduced her new companion, sharing: “When my life was altered instantly recently, a little voice whispered to me that it was time to embrace change and new possibilities.”

With the support of a close friend Palmer Hefferan, Lupita visited Best Friends Pet Adoption Center, where she decided to foster Yoyo. Just three days later, she knew he was meant to stay forever. “It may look like I saved Yoyo,” she reflected, “but really, Yoyo is saving me.”

Since adopting Yoyo, Lupita has become a full-fledged cat mom, “He loves his food, extremely careful and rarely drops things, very picky about his wand toys. Only drinks running water, the bugs in the house don’t stand a chance and can’t be trusted around supplements!“

Once skeptical of pet parents who flood their phones with animal photos, Nyong’o has now fully embraced the lifestyle. “Now I am one of those people!” she laughed.
