‘THERE IS A HUGE DRUG ISSUE’ PINKY GHELANI ON KENYA’S SUBSTANCE ABUSE CRISIS

Prominent Kenyan media personality Pinky Ghelani has caused a stir on social media with her recent statement about substance abuse in the country, challenging the government’s focus on alcohol regulation while what she calls “a huge drug issue” remains unaddressed.

The outspoken TV host made her controversial statement as the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) prepares to implement stringent new alcohol regulations, including raising the legal drinking age from 18 to 21.

“I don’t think alcohol is our problem,” Ghelani said. “There is a huge drug issue that no one wants to speak about. It’s all I’m gonna say.” with many Kenyans echoing Ghelani’s concerns about the growing but often ignored drug crisis in urban communities.
