E-SIR, TEDD JOSIAH & JUA CALI AMONG 180 NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL HEROES 2025
The National Heroes Council has dropped its list for 2025, Musician Jua Cali, music producer Ted Josiah, the late musician E-Sir are among 180 Kenyans proposed for recognition as National Heroes in 2025.
In the arts category, several individuals have been identified with legendary names appearing on the list. Producer Clemmo of Calif Records, the Council has also listed John Okumu alias Wuod Fibi to be honoured for their role in promoting Kenyan music.
Ted will be honoured as a pioneering producer who shaped Kenya’s modern urban sound, mentored legendary artists, and elevated the country’s music to global standards. The late E-Sir is being recognised as a trailblazing rapper who revolutionised Kenya’s urban music with his blend of Swahili, Sheng, and English.

Others who have been proposed in the arts category include Kamba gospel musician Faith Nziwa Kithele, the late Fundi Konde, Bosco Mulwa and Professor John Mugubi for his role in shaping Kenya’s arts through film, theatre, and creative writing, and for pioneering formal academic training that has nurtured generations of young creatives.
In the sports category, Harambee Starlets Coach Mildred Omari Cheche and Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations secretary general Nicholas Musonye have been listed.
