Global star Priyanka Chopra is fully embracing her experience in Kenya while on location for a major film production. The actress is currently in the country for the shooting of the upcoming movie SSMB29, which stars Mahesh Babu and is directed by the acclaimed Indian filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli.

The production has positioned Kenya at the heart of one of the top projects in Asian cinema. With a budget of Ksh20 billion (£135 million), the blockbuster has chosen Kenya as its primary filming destination, with approximately 95 percent of its African scenes being captured across the country’s iconic landscapes.

Breathtaking sites such as the Maasai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Samburu, and Amboseli have been selected as key backdrops, set to highlight Kenya’s spectacular natural scenery to audiences worldwide.

On Tuesday, September 2, the director Rajamouli met with Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi. During their meeting, Mudavadi hailed the film as a major milestone for Kenya’s creative economy. “For Kenya, this decision goes beyond cinema; it is a landmark moment that showcases the country’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and unmatched hospitality to a global audience,” Mudavadi stated.

The film is scheduled for a global release across 120 countries and is expected to reach over one billion viewers, offering international visibility for Kenya’s landscapes and local talent.
