TEEN DRAMA PREFECTS STARRING AZZIAD & MELVIN ALUSA NOMINATED FOR EMMY AWARD

East African teen drama series Prefects has been nominated for an International Emmy Award in the Kids: Live-Action category. 

Prefects is set in the fictional Mvule High School and follows a group of misfit students who unite to challenge an oppressive prefects’ union and restore fairness to their school. Since its premiere in late 2024, the series has been praised for its fresh narrative, dynamic characters, and authentic portrayal of teenage life.

We are absolutely thrilled to share that ‘Prefects’ has been nominated for an International Emmy Award,” said a statement from the production. “This recognition means the world to us. From our brilliant cast who brought these characters to life, to the tireless crew who poured their hearts into every scene, and to everyone behind the scenes who believed in this project from day one this nomination is truly a testament to all your hard work and passion.”

The series boasts a mix of celebrated Kenyan and Ugandan talent, including influencer and actress Azziad Nasenya and acclaimed actor Melvin Alusa, whose performances have been central to the show’s success.
