GENGETONE MUSICIAN SHALKIDO DIES AFTER ROAD ACCIDENT
The music community is mourning the loss of artist Shalkido, who passed away from injuries sustained in a road accident on Thika Road.
The news was confirmed by comedian Oga Obinna, who had been providing updates on the artist’s condition. The accident occurred early on Sunday, October 5. After being discovered injured at the scene, Shalkido was transported to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) and admitted directly to the ICU.
Obinna shared that doctors had declared Shalkido brain-dead, citing internal brain bleeding and swelling that made performing surgery impossible. Although the artist also suffered a leg injury, the irreversible brain damage was the primary cause of death.
Shalkido, whose real name was Kevin Mburu Kinyanjui, was recognised for his contributions to the Gengetone and Mugithi music scenes. He had recently been in the public eye after sharing his personal challenges and making a public appeal for support for his music career and family.
