OCTOPIZZO’S MANAGER VICTOR ONGAYA SUCCUMBS TO ALS

Rapper Octopizzo is mourning the passing of his manager Victor Ongaya, popularly known as Cheeks. Ongaya passed away after a long and courageous battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

The news was confirmed by the artist himself in a tribute, where he described Ongaya as more than a manager, but a dear friend, confidant, and big brother.”It is with profound sorrow that I announce the passing of my manager and dear friend, Mr. Ongaya Vick,” Octopizzo shared.

He was the only person who saw potential in me when many, not even myself, thought this rap thing would work for us. Since 2009, he has been the creative force behind the Octopizzo brand, a visionary, mentor, and the backbone of my artistic journey.”

Octopizzo also stated the professional impact he had on his life, noting, “His faith in me shaped not only my career but also the person I’ve become. Losing him feels like losing a part of myself.”

In a separate announcement, the family requested support from friends and the public to give him a dignified send-off, with a budget of Sh1.5 million set for funeral expenses. Funeral Arrangements are as follows: Memorial Service in Nairobi on Thursday, October 23. Body leaves Nairobi on Friday, October 24 and Burial Service on Saturday, October 25 in Kakamega County.

Friends and family are currently gathering at his residence in Woodley to finalise arrangements. Financial contributions to support the funeral can be sent via M-Pesa to Joy Amulembo 0726 647 183.
