RAILA ODINGA’S WILL STATES BURIAL WITHIN 72 HOURS
New details have emerged regarding the final wishes of ODM leader Raila Odinga, who reportedly requested a burial within 72 hours of his death. This information was relayed to President William Ruto during a meeting at the Odinga family home in Karen.
A family representative explained that this urgent timeline was a specific instruction in Raila’s Will. To meet this request, plans are underway for a burial by Sunday in the family plot located in Siaya County, where he will join his late father and son.
Per the four-day state funeral programme released by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, President Ruto and members of Odinga’s family will receive his body upon arrival at JKIA on Thursday, then escort it to the Lee Funeral Home.
From noon, it will be moved to the Parliament buildings in Nairobi for public viewing until 5 p.m. A state funeral service is scheduled for Friday at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium, after which Odinga’s body will be moved to his Karen home for an overnight stay.
It will be taken to Kisumu on Saturday morning for public viewing at the Moi Stadium, before travelling by road to Bondo for an overnight stay ahead of the Sunday interment in line with his dictates that he be buried within 72 hours of his death. A delegation led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is traveling to bring his remains back to Kenya.
The ODM leader who was in a morning jog collapsed before dying shortly in the southern Indian state of Kerala. He was accompanied by his sister, daughter Winnie, a personal doctor, and Indian and Kenyan security officers, when he collapsed.
