RAO001: OVER 34,000 PEOPLE TRACK PLANE CARRYING RAILA ODINGA’S BODY
The Kenya Airways flight tasked with repatriating the body of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has captured global attention, becoming the most-tracked aircraft in the world on the flight-tracking service Flightradar24.
The flight, KQA202, departed Nairobi for Mumbai on Wednesday evening and quickly became the second most-tracked flight globally. By midnight, it had surged to the number one spot. Its return journey, flight KQA203, was being monitored by over 34,550 people by Thursday morning.
In a tribute, Kenya Airways announced the flight would be renamed RAO001 upon entering Kenyan airspace in honour of the late leader. The plane was scheduled to land at JKIA around 9:30 a.m., where it will be received by President Ruto and the Odinga family, beginning a multi-day state funeral program.
