Migori Senator Eddy Oketch has joined the nation in mourning the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, he shared details of their final conversation just a day before the statesman’s death.

Senator Oketch, a first-time legislator, revealed that he received a seven-minute call from Raila Odinga on Tuesday, during which the veteran leader imparted crucial instructions focused on unity.

“Yesterday you called me for seven minutes,” Senator Oketch recounted. “You gave me a lot of instructions that I am still trying to make sense of. You told me to go on Ramogi TV, greet Onagi and tell them to speak in one voice. You told me to tell them to remain united.”

The Senator shared that Odinga had assured him of his return over the weekend and had instructed him to be present to receive him. “You told me you are coming back in the weekend and I must come to receive you,” Oketch stated. “I did not know you were saying goodbye. I am lost!“

The nation was plunged into mourning upon receiving the news that the former Prime Minister passed away on the morning of Wednesday, October 15, at the age of 80.
