Kenyan musician Akothee was admitted to the hospital early this morning after collapsing in her bathroom.

Akothee recounted being rushed to the hospital by her children at approximately 6:00 a.m. after suffering from stomach pain throughout the night. The artist stated the pain began after she saw a “disturbing video,” which she says triggered such intense physical symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea, and acute pain that she described the experience as “literally going into labour.

Her children found her in a critical state on the bathroom floor and immediately transported her to the emergency wing. However, what should have been a moment of urgent care quickly turned into a distressing confrontation.

Akothee alleges that upon arrival, a nurse on duty met them with a dismissive attitude. When her daughters, visibly concerned, pleaded for pain relief for their mother, the nurse reportedly raised her voice and instructed them to wait outside. “In a moment where I was helpless and in excruciating pain, I had to defend my children,” Akothee stated. “I was unable to even sit properly in the wheelchair, yet I felt compelled to speak up.”

The situation escalated when Akothee decided to seek treatment elsewhere to which she claims the nurse replied, “You are free to go,” and abandoned them. Despite her daughter Vesha’s attempts to plead for help, she stated she had lost all trust in the staff and feared for her safety. “It was one of the most heartbreaking experiences,” Akothee shared. “To be in pain, helpless, and still have to defend your children in a place meant to offer care and compassion.

The musician confirms she has since received medication and is experiencing some relief, though she remains in pain and is resting. “May I get well to protect my children,” and noted that her younger children are safe in Mombasa with their nannies.
