DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: SONKO RESCUES DAUGHTER AFTER DISTRESS CALL

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko found himself in a domestic dispute after his daughter reported an assault by her husband. 

The incident unfolded on Saturday when one of Sonko’s daughters made a distressed call to her mother, claiming her husband had slapped her during a morning disagreement. “My daughter called her mother this morning and said that when her husband came home, she asked him what the kids would eat for breakfast. In response, he slapped her twice in the face. This is not the first time this has happened.”

The former governor then arrived at his daughter’s residence with his team, leading to a heated face-off with his son-in-law, who remained silent when confronted about the alleged abuse. During the exchange, Sonko revealed he financially supports the couple entirely covering their rent, children’s education, living expenses, and having provided them with a Range Rover.

“And it made me ask myself, if my own daughter can face harassment in her own home, what about the countless young women and men in Kenya  who suffer silently, with no one to defend them?”

He escorted his daughter from the home after warning his son-in-law against any future abuse, “Somethings you don’t joke with that’s why I have not come to the public not to expose my daughter but as a leader I have to talk about it. This nonsense on beating women must stop ”
