‘I PRAYED AND FASTED FOR MUM’S RECOVERY’ BETTY BAYO’S DAUGHTER PAYS TRIBUTE 

Sky, the daughter of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, delivered an emotional tribute to her mother, choosing to focus on their beautiful memories rather than the sorrow of her passing. “Today is my mother’s memorial. I don’t want to turn it into a sad day, because today is a day to remember all our beautiful moments with her,” Sky began. 

She remembered her mother as a storyteller, whose captivating tales could hold an audience for hours. She shared that Bayo was supporting all of her dreams, no matter how unrealistic they seemed. “She used to tell me to never listen to what the haters said, and to always be confident,” Sky recalled, revealing that the funny content she creates online was all part of her mother’s “amazing plan,” with Betty often being the woman behind the camera, shouting words of encouragement.

Sky credited her mother with bringing her up in Christ, sharing how she would join her in prayer from the age of six, curious about what she spoke to God about for hours. A foundation that made Sky love for reading and studying the Bible. She recounted the shocking moment she received the news of her mother’s death, initially believing it to be a prank. 

The devastating reality set in when she saw her mother’s lifeless body. “I felt like my world was crashing down… still sweating because she was fighting for her life the day before,” she shared, revealing that she had prayed and fasted for her mother’s recovery.

She promised her mother  to make her proud, “It’s sad to me to know that I’ll never make new memories with my favourite person anymore,” she stated, “but I do promise her that I’ll make her proud.”
