NASRA YUSUFF CLAIMS ZUCHU BLOCKED HER AFTER PUBLICLY CHALLENGING TANZANIAN ARTISTES
Kenyan comedienne Nasra Yusuff has revealed that renowned Tanzanian singer Zuchu blocked her on social media platforms following Yusuff’s public call for Tanzanian artists to break their silence during a period of reported national crisis affecting the country’s youth.
The online confrontation began when Yusuff directly challenged major figures in the Tanzanian music industry, including Diamond Platnumz, Ali Kiba, Harmonize, Rayvanny, and Nandy, for conducting business as usual while, as she stated, “kina mama wanapanga nazishi ya watoto wao” (mothers are planning funerals for their children).”
In a series of viral messages, Yusuff questioned the artists’ silence, pointing to their moral responsibility to their fanbase. “The youth who see you as a role model are crying right now,” she stated. “Most of them have been killed, most of them with gunshot wounds. Can’t you just talk and support your fans who have been with you all these years?“
She pressed further on the practical implications of their silence, asking, “Who are you pushing your songs to be listened to this period? Your target audience are crying… You who have platforms [are] keeping silent in a program like this that your people, your fellow youth, your fans need you. Who is supposed to speak on their behalf??? Us in Kenya??? You are failing your people so much!”
Following her posts, she confirmed that Zuchu had blocked her account. Despite this, Yusuff stands by her comments, stating, “I have always publicly supported her and I understand that truth hurts, but at least my hard truth has made not only her, but a vast majority of them speak!“
