Rapper Octopizzo has responded to critics questioning his qualifications following his announcement to vie for the Kibra parliamentary seat

In a social media post, the artist, whose real name is Henry Ohanga, acknowledged the public’s skepticism based on past celebrities who underdelivered in political office. “I completely understand your concern, it’s a valid one,Octopizzo wrote. “But this isn’t a celebrity contest; it’s about service, integrity, and real change.”

He said that his artistic career is secondary to his connection with Kibra. “I would probably still be vying even if I wasn’t an artist,” he stated. “Before putting me in the same box, I encourage you to look deeper, at my academic background, my community engagement since 2009, and my consistent advocacy for the people of Kibra.

Octopizzo also called on the youth to register as voters, “Tuchukueni kura bana jo” (Let’s take the vote, guys). Real change starts with us. Registration isn’t just paperwork, it’s power. It’s how communities that have been overlooked finally speak for themselves and shape the future they deserve.

Octopizzo pledged to bring what he termed “poverty-conscious leadership, and integrity-driven service” to the constituency. “Dignity, opportunity, and honest leadership should never be luxuries for the few. Your vote is your voice. Register. Show up. Participate.
