PRESIDENT SAMIA APPOINTS DAUGHTER, SON-IN-LAW TO CABINET

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed her daughter, Wanu Hafidh Ameir, as Deputy Minister of Education and her son-in-law, Mohammed Mchengerwa, as Minister of Health.

By appointing the married couple, Wanu and Mohammed, to her cabinet together, the President has given her political opponents a new reason to question her choices. Critics argue that this move places too much power within a single family, undermining a fair and balanced government.

Former President Jakaya Kikwete’s son, Ridhiwani Kikwete, was also appointed as Minister for Governance. The appointments come just days after President Samia was declared the winner of Tanzania’s election with 97.66 per cent of the vote.
