DCI RELEASES CCTV TIMELINE OF JIRONGO’S LAST MOVEMENTS BEFORE FATAL CRASH

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has unveiled the final movements of politician Cyrus Jirongo moments before the fatal accident that claimed his life.

In a newly released statement, investigators confirmed that Jirongo’s vehicle, registration number KCZ 350C, was involved in ahead-on collision with a Climax Company Ltd bus near the Karai area on the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway in the early hours ofDecember 13, 2025.

CCTV footage obtained from Eagol Petrol Station shows that at2:18 a.m., Jirongo drove into the station from the Nairobi direction. He did not refuel, but instead paused briefly at the exit before making a right turn back toward Nairobi at 2:19:19 a.m. Seconds later, at 2:19:25 a.m., the bus collided with his vehicle.

Police have interviewed the bus driver, Tyrus Kamau Githinji, who is currently out on bail and required to report back to the Naivasha Traffic Base on December 22.

Detectives are also retracing Jirongo’s steps earlier that night, including a meeting held at Karen Oasis Bar and Restaurant. The DCI has extended condolences to his family and assured the public of a thorough and impartial investigation.
