WILLIS RABURU FILES SH10 MILLION LAWSUIT AGAINST EABL & FURAHA CITY FESTIVAL
Media personality Willis Raburu has taken legal action against two companies for alleged breach of contract and prolonged non-payment related to the Furaha City Festival held in December 2024.
Raburu, through his company Steizon Limited, is seeking Ksh10 million in owed payment, plus interest and damages, from an events company and a leading alcoholic beverages company, EABL. He said that the move is a step to ensure accountability and protect creative professionals across the industry.
“This morning, together with my legal team led by Danstan Omari, we filed pleadings arising from prolonged non-payment and breach of contract,” Raburu stated. “Court was not a first resort. After over a year of good-faith engagement, this was the final step. We MUST protect creatives at all costs.”
According to court documents filed at the High Court in Nairobi, Steizon Limited was contracted on December 6, 2024, to provide services for the Furaha City Festival, scheduled for the following day. The agreed fee was Ksh10 million exclusive of VAT for digital promotion, branding, influencer marketing, logistics and full event coordination.
Raburu’s legal team, Advocates Danstan Omari and Martina Swiga, argue that the contract was fully executed by conduct, despite the events company not physically signing the agreement. The plaintiff’s team delivered extensively on its obligations, producing over 60 promotional reels, 100+ static posts, achieving a social media reach exceeding one million users, and coordinating all event operations including influencers, security, and media.
In his filing, Raburu outlined that the non-payment has resulted in serious financial loss, stalled projects, damaged supplier relationships, and has tarnished his professional reputation and that of Steizon Limited.
“Licences exist to uphold standards of compliance and accountability,” Raburu noted. “Where obligations from accepted work remain unresolved, the law provides for pause and review to protect the integrity of the system.”
