Globally renowned American streamer iShowSpeed, has achieved a historic viewership during his ongoing African tour. His live stream from Nairobi, Kenya, has garnered over 8.9 million views, making the highest single-stream audience of his ‘Speed Does Africa’ tour to date.

The 28-day in-real-life (IRL) tour, a first-of-its-kind journey by a content creator of his scale across the continent, has captivated a global audience. The Nairobi stream alone concluded with over 5.1 million concurrent viewers, a number that has since surged past the 8 million mark.

The streamer, born Darren Jason Watkins Jr., was officially welcomed to Kenya by President William Ruto. In a special video message, the president stated, “Kenya is not just another country; Kenya is a pulse, a feeling. Kenya is home. This is Magical Kenya.”

Day 13 of the tour featured a packed itinerary that showcased the diversity of Nairobi. Speed visited Upper Hill School, engaging with students and participating in a rugby match. His arrival at Kenyatta Market sparked a massive gathering of enthusiastic fans, demonstrating his powerful connection with young audiences worldwide.

The day continued with a visit to Nairobi National Park, where Speed had close encounters with wildlife, feeding hyenas, lions, a leopard, and a cheetah. His journey through the city was itself an event, as a convoy of cheering fans on motorcycles escorted him down Lang’ata Road to the iconic Carnivore restaurant, where he sampled a variety of local meats.

During the stream, Speed highlighted Kenya’s exceptional support, announcing, “We are about to hit 47.9 million [subscribers]. I don’t think you understand how crazy that is. No other country so far in this tour has been able to gain this amount of subs in one stream. Kenya is so far number one.”
