POLICE ARREST 22 TIKTOKERS ACCUSED OF HARASSING ROAD USERS
Police have arrested at least 22 individuals linked to a series of offensive videos filmed for TikTok. The arrests target content creators allegedly involved in indecently harassing women and dangerously creating content on busy roads within theEastleigh, Pangani, and Muthaiga areas.
The suspects are currently detained at Pangani Police Station and are expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday, January 21, to face charges related to their actions. The crackdown follows condemnation in Parliament by Nairobi Woman Representative, Esther Passaris.
Speaking on the floor of the house, Passaris said “There’s been a disturbing Tiktok video of teenage boys harassing women in broad daylight, grabbing them, slipping them, dragging them schoolgirls into videos without their consent. Why? Because they’re looking for likes. That is sexual harassment.”
Passaris called upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take immediate action, issuing a warning that such predatory behaviour disguised content creation will not be tolerated in society.
