TENANT FROM VIRAL LANDLORD DISPUTE VIDEO RECEIVES OVERWHELMING PUBLIC SUPPORT

The Kenyan tenant at the centre of a widely circulated viral video, which showed his landlord forcibly removing the door to his rental unit over a rent dispute, has issued an update regarding his situation.

The tenant confirmed that he has now vacated the premises and is in the process of securing new accommodation. This follows the disturbing incident where the landlord was filmed not only removing the door but also threatening to dump human waste inside the house, sparking online outrage and debate over tenant rights and landlord conduct.

“I have moved, and I have kept my belongings at my best friend’s place so that tomorrow I can look for a house and move,” the tenant stated. He also shared positive financial news, adding, “Meanwhile, I have received money and I can pay for rent and accommodation.”

The viral incident prompted an outpouring of assistance from compassionate Kenyans across social media platforms. “Thank you to those who have chipped in for the gifts on TikTok and via M-Pesa. I am so grateful. I wouldn’t have been able to do it. May God bless you,” he said.
