2 SUSPECTED DRUG & CHILD TRAFFICKERS ARRESTED IN POSSESSION OF HEROIN WORTH SH1 MILLION
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) Mombasa have apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement drug and child trafficking.
A targeted raid was conducted on Tuesday at the Maweni Estate in Nyali, following an intelligence regarding the suspects’ illicit activities. During the search of a house believed to be a facilitation point, detectives recovered 250 grammes of heroin, with an estimated street value of Sh1 million, packaged in three separate sachets.
The suspects, identified as Amir Latf and Ruhman Abubakar, were arrested at the scene. Preliminary investigations by the DCI indicate that the duo’s criminal enterprise extends beyond narcotics, revealing their alleged involvement in child trafficking networks operating within Mombasa, Malindi, and Nairobi.
“This arrest and recovery reaffirm the DCI’s commitment to combating drug and child trafficking through intelligence-led operations, ensuring the protection of vulnerable children and the dismantling of criminal networks involved in these serious crimes,” said the DCI.
The suspects are currently in custody, undergoing processing as the DCI proceeds with comprehensive investigations. They are scheduled to be arraigned in court to face charges.
