85-YEAR-OLD SWISS NATIONAL ARRESTED IN WATAMU FOR DEFILEMENT OF MINOR

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested an 85-year-old Swiss national in connection with the defilement of a 15-year-old girl.

The suspect, identified as Gisler Emil Johann, was arrested at a villa in Watamu on Tuesday evening following a joint operation by officers from the DCI’s Child Protection Unit and local police.

The is after the victim’s parents reported her missing on February 1, 2026. Despite immediate efforts by family and authorities to locate the teenager, her whereabouts remained unknown for nearly two weeks.

Acting on a tip-off from members of the public, they reported sighting a foreign national in the company of the minor at a residence in the area. Upon entry, officers found Gisler with the minor inside the villa. The suspect was taken into custody without any incident. The victim was immediately escorted to Gede Sub-County Hospital, where she underwent a medical examination and is currently receiving psycho-social support.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reaffirms its commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our communities by conducting thorough investigations to ensure that perpetrators of such heinous crimes are held accountable,” said the DCI.

Gisler remains in police custody undergoing processing and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
