DJ KROWBAR’S WIFE LAID TO REST IN NAROMORU
The family, friends, and the Kenyan entertainment fraternity bid farewell to Joy Wanjiru Karumba, wife of DJ Krowbar. She was laid to rest at her family home at the foot of Mount Kenya in Naromoru, Nyeri County.
The ceremony was attended by close family, friends, and colleagues, who gathered to celebrate her life. Television presenter Antony Ndiema, a close friend of the family, shared his condolence. “Today, we laid our dear sister Joy to rest… It has been a heavy one and a half weeks for DJ Krowbar, the nuclear family, extended family, and friends,” said Ndiema.
He further stated, “I watched my brother weep from a place of unimaginable pain and my heart broke, yet grace was present even in the tears. The family now begins a new journey, a journey without Joy. May grace abound.“
During the requiem mass, DJ Krowbar recalled a recent memory of his wife in their church. “The last time I stood here I was hosting service in church, my wife was seated right at the corner smiling at me. Now she is not there… I’m gonna miss this girl,” he shared.
He also talked about a touching video from Cape Town, taken shortly after their anniversary. In the clip, Joy, while filming him, spoke words of prophetic encouragement during a challenging time. “She was telling me I was going to graduate and that education will change lives,” DJ Krowbar recounted.
After undergoing a kidney transplant last year, Joy faced medical complications. While a serious infection late last year was successfully managed, she recently encountered further health setbacks. After a brief period at home two weeks ago, she was re-admitted for care before her passing. She is survived by her husband, and their three children: Toria, Riri, and Imani.
