ELON MUSK SLAMMED OVER COMMENTS ON LUPITA NYONG’O ROLE IN THE ODYSSEY

Elon Musk is facing criticism for his reaction to speculative casting news for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. 

Musk commented on a social media post that argued casting Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy a character traditionally depicted as fair-skinned and blonde would be an insult to the source material. Musk wrote that Nolan had “lost his integrity,” a statement that quickly caused online debate.

While she is attached to the project, her specific character remains unannounced. On The View, the co-hosts collectively challenged Musk’s. Whoopi Goldberg questioned the underlying implication of his critique, affirming Nyong’o’s widely recognised beauty and suggesting Musk reflect on his own remarks. She highlighted the fluidity of fictional portrayals, especially within mythological storytelling.

Co-host Sunny Hostin supported this view, stating that applying rigid, modern beauty standards to ancient mythical figures is flawed and accused Musk of promoting white supremacist ideologies. Sara Haines offered a lighter take, noting that Musk might have “bigger fish to fry” than unconfirmed casting rumours.
