Comedian Eric Omondi has sustained injuries on the first day of his ambitious charity walk from Nairobi to Mombasa but remains committed to his mission.

After a gruelling opening leg, Omondi has revealed he has torn ligaments in his left leg and hip. “Lazima tutafika Mombasa hata kama ni by fire! Today ilikufa, Kesho tutaendelea hata kama tuna crawl…” (We must reach Mombasa even if it’s by fire!!! Today was tough, Tomorrow we will continue even if we have to crawl…).

The walk, which commenced on February 10th, is aimed to raise funds for the construction of the Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre. The planned multi-purpose facility aims to help vulnerable Kenyans.

Announced a week ago, the four-day walk is scheduled to conclude on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. Omondi has specifically invited Mombasa County Governor, Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir, to join him for the final 2KM at Makupa Roundabout, stating, “Thank you Your Excellency for your support…I am asking you on the 14th to meet me there to walk with me.”

The Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre is envisioned as a comprehensive support hub, designed to include: A Warehouse, two fully equipped ambulances, a clinic and a free secondary school.
