GRAMMY AWARDS: TYLA WINS BEST AFRICAN MUSIC PERFORMANCE
South African superstar Tyla has once again claimed the Grammy for Best African Music Performance, securing her second win in the category. Her 2026 victory was awarded for the hit single Push 2 Start during the 68th Grammy Awards ceremony.
Tyla triumphed over a formidable list of nominees, including acclaimed Nigerian artists Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr, as well as the collaborative track Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo andMehran Matin. This win follows her inaugural category victory in 2024 for her global breakthrough single, Water.
The Best African Music Performance award was established to amplify contemporary African sounds on the international stage. In a further celebration of African musical legacy, the 68th Grammys also presented a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award to the iconic Nigerian pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, recognising his cultural influence.
