MUCHINA MALOMBA QUITS KISS FM TO PURSUE CONTENT CREATION

Celebrated radio presenter Muchina Malomba has officially departed from Kiss 100, one of the country’s biggest radio stations. After six years to the station, Malomba is stepping away from the microphone to chase a new horizon: travel content creation.

Malomba broke the news to his fans via a social media post, revealing that leaving the station meant letting go of a dream he had nurtured since childhood. “When I was 11, I knew who I wanted to become when I am older. It was a very clear dream to me. I remember reading pretend news in front of my class and having a vivid vision of what exactly I wanted to pursue in college: Communications,” Malomba shared.

His path to the airwaves was one of perseverance. Before Kiss 100 gave him his big break, he hustled for six years. The irony of the timing was not lost on him; the life-changing job offer came on April Fools’ Day. “When I received that call from the HR that I have gotten the job, I actually told her I don’t have time for pranks. She laughed and said, ‘No, Muchina, this is Radio Africa HR, come get your contract!‘”

From there, Malomba worked his way up from the gruelling graveyard shift (midnight to 5 a.m.) to becoming a beloved voice on The Maloko Show and, most recently, a key driver of the station’s iconic morning show. Through it all, he gave radio his all.

However, the pull of a different kind of freedom proved irresistible. In a move he admits sounds “ridiculous” but feels deeply right, Malomba is trading the studio for the open road. “But free spirited Muchina Malomba… A boy just wants to travel and create content while at it. I have quit my dream job to give travel content creation a chance. I have no idea what I am doing tbh, but I know I have made the right choice for myself,” he said.

In his emotional exit, he took a moment to honour his loyal listeners who engaged with his “crazy conversations on air” and shared a particularly touching tribute to his co-host, Cyd Wambui. He credited her for his growth, praising her confidence, resilience, and warmth.

Wambui also took to social media to share her support, stating, “Tears won’t stop coming out of my eyes. I let them fall freely because how could they not? You’ve been good to me. You’ve been good for me. You’ve been you for us all. I love you. It has been an absolute pleasure to live my dream with you.”
