NAOMI KURIA DETAINED AT JAKARTA IMMIGRATION DESPITE VALID TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Kenyan digital content creator Naomi Kuria and travel blogger Diana Daisy experienced a harrowing scare at Jakarta International Airport yesterday after they were unexpectedly detained by immigration officials, despite having all their travel documents in order.
In a series of emotional social media updates, Kuria detailed the ordeal, revealing that they were separated from other passengers and held by authorities shortly after arrival.
“Guys, we have been held at Jakarta immigration,” Kuria shared in a now-viral video. “After providing everything, we had already applied for our visas and paid, because it’s visa on arrival. After filling the arrival card, usually you have done everything. After showing them the hotel w’ere going to and our return tickets to Malaysia… then the guy is like, ‘Please, can you please come with me.’”
Kuria described the fear and confusion of the moment, noting that they watched helplessly as every other passenger cleared the airport without issue. “I fear such things; I only see them on documentaries on TV. Literally everyone cleared the airport right now,” she said.
The content creator made a public plea for prayers, captioning one video: “We are held by the immigration office in Indonesia, Jakarta. Naomba mtuombee @dianahdaisy.“
After approximately 14 hours of uncertainty, Kuria returned to her platform with an update confirming their release. “We are free! Let’s explore the world, my love @dianahdaisy.“
