OGA OBINNA RECEIVES SH2 MILLION FROM KARAURI AFTER OBARE FAILS TO PRODUCE VIDEO
Media personality Oga Obinna has today received KSh 2 million from Kasarani Member of Parliament Ronald Karauri, following the expiry of a public challenge issued to blogger Edgar Obare.
The funds, collected at the MP’s office, will go directly toward the upcoming celebrity boxing match between Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer scheduled for April 4, 2026.
Speaking shortly after receiving the money, Obinna confirmed the details of the contribution. “It’s 5:20pm, we have been waiting and finally came to pick the money. We have gotten Sh2 million cash money. Sh1 million is for the Kasarani people tickets, the other Sh1 million goes to the prize money. We have 700,000 for opening fights and now we are looking for the money for the performers, announcers and ring ladies.“
The donation follows a dramatic public challenge issued by Karauri a day before. The MP had offered blogger Edgar Obare KSh10 million to release alleged viral footage that had been the subject of intense social media speculation .
In a video statement, Karauri dismissed the allegations, saying, “I usually don’t address nonsense but this one I must speak. I am the straightest guy you will ever meet. If I’m going to have any issues, it’s going to be with women. In fact, women are the root of all my problems in this life” .
Addressing the blogger, Karauri said, “Edgar Obare, this fake story of yours is totally fabricated and you know it. If it is about extortion money, I have it for you. I’m giving you money to share the video on your platform by 5pm today. I have KSh10 million for you” .
When the 5pm deadline elapsed with no footage released, Obinna visited Karauri’s office to confirm that the blogger had not delivered. “Time has elapsed, and he has not posted the video,” Obinna noted.
Karauri responded by handing over the cash, telling Obinna: “You are a lucky man, you will walk away with Sh2 million”. During the exchange, Obinna playfully turned his back as the money was placed on him, telling the MP: “Weka pesa” .
The boxing showdown has attracted Massive attention, with President William Ruto previously fulfilling a KSh 4 million pledge toward the bout. That contribution was delivered through Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor (Jalang’o) and included KSh 2 million for ticket purchases, KSh 1 million for Mbavu Destroyer, and KSh 1 million for Majembe.
According to Karauri’s earlier statement, the remaining KSh 8 million from his original pledge will now be channelled to his foundation.
