Businessman Peter Nduati has opened up about his academic connection with former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, revealing that the two attended both high school and university together.

In a candid interview with Dr Ofweneke, Nduati shared details of their shared educational journey, shedding light on Waititu’s past and the name change that became a point of contention during his degree controversy.

Waititu was my senior. Him and Kabogo were in college with me. They were all in Punjab University. I was way behind them, I’m younger than them, but I found them there,” Nduati revealed.

The connection between the two runs deeper than university, stretching back to their secondary school days. “Waititu was my school captain in Dagoretti High School,Nduati disclosed, adding that he was in junior school while Waititu was in senior school.

Addressing the controversy surrounding Waititu’s academic credentials, Nduati explained that the former governor previously went by a different name. “He had a different name. And that was the essence of that case he was being accused of – that Ferdinand Waititu does not have a degree. He was called Cliffon Ndugu before. It is the same way. If you go to people who knew me as a child, they know me as Peter Kenneth.”

Despite the age difference, Nduati and Waititu connected through sports during their time in India.I used to be captain of basketball, of course, and he was captain of boxing. So in the sports side, we knew each other. We were in different campuses but because Chandigarh is a very small city, it’s one of the first planned cities in the world, we would meet in events, college events.”

Reflecting on the controversy that surrounded Waititu’s academic qualifications, Nduati maintained that based on his personal experience, Waititu was indeed a student at Punjab University.Even when that case was going on, I was saying, but these guys were in college. But Kenyan politics, let’s not go there,” he added.
