RUTO DELIVERS SH4 MILLION PLEDGE TO SUPPORT MAJEMBE VS MBAVU BOXING MATCH

President William Ruto has fulfilled his pledge of financial support for the highly anticipated Majembe vs Mbavu Destroyer boxing match, channeling Ksh4 million through Lang’ata Member of Parliament, Jalang’o.

The funds, received by media personality and event organiser Oga Obinna, are earmarked to directly support the athletes and their fans. As previously promised, Ksh1 million will go to each of the two headline boxers, Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer, providing crucial financial backing as they prepare for their showdown scheduled for April 4, 2026, inNairobi.

In a move set to pack the arena, President Ruto has also committed to covering the ticket costs for 2,000 spectators, ensuring a vibrant and supportive atmosphere for the athletes and granting passionate fans free access to the event.

Upon receiving the support, a grateful Oga Obinna said, “The President promised some money for Mbavu and Majembe, and he gave it to Lang’ata 1 (Jalang’o). Mr. President, thank you, we are grateful. This is the way we are going to change the sport, one punch at a time. We have started with boxing, and we will enter the rest of them.”
