SAMMY KIOKO CAMPS OUTSIDE MACHAKOS COUNTY OFFICES DEMANDING PAYMENT

Popular Kenyan comedian and entrepreneur Sammy Kioko, along with his sister, have begun a daily protest outside the Machakos County Government offices, demanding payment of overdue debt totalling Sh19 million.

The protest stems from a contract to supply staff uniforms to Machakos County, awarded during Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration. Kioko alleges that despite fulfilling his part of the agreement, the county government has withheld payment for over a year, crippling his fashion business and forcing him into severe personal hardship.

In December 2025, Kioko was forced to vacate his home due to mounting financial pressure directly linked to the unpaid invoice. Over recent weeks, he has publicly documented the devastating ripple effects of the county’s delayed payment, including the closure of his tailoring shops and the sale of personal assets to stay afloat.

From his protest site, Kioko posted on social media, stating, “The struggle continues..we try again Tomorrow. thank you for your Endless support..🙏🏻 #MunguNiWetuSote.”
