ELIUD KIPCHOGE RECEIVES HERO’S WELCOME IN CHINA
Thousands of fans flooded the streets of Shijiazhuang to catch a glimpse of Kenyan marathon icon Eliud Kipchoge, with massive crowds gathering and cheering as the world record holder moved through the city.
Speaking during his visit, Kipchoge reflected on the connections running has enabled throughout his illustrious career. “Throughout my journey in running, I have been grateful to travel to many corners of the world and meet people from many walks of life. Different cultures, languages and ways of living,” Kipchoge said. “These are the moments that remind me that sport is a bridge that connects us all. I am privileged to share these beautiful experiences with people everywhere.“
The marathoner said that each race offers more than just athletic competition. “Each race teaches me something new, and sometimes, it is not only the race but the people we meet along the way,” he added.

Kipchoge revealed that his visit to China was driven by a new partnership, “This time, it is a new partnership that has brought me to China. Some years ago, I met Mr. Wei, Chairman of Junlebao, just after he had completed his six-star journey. From that moment, there was a shared understanding between us through running.”
The two-time Olympic gold medalist spoke warmly of his connection with the Chinese dairy industry leader. “During this visit, I have been welcomed not as a guest, but as a friend. We shared thoughts on running and reflected on how it shapes our lives teaching discipline, patience, and purpose. I am inspired by his journey in building Junlebao into one of the leading dairy companies in China, and by how he carries the values of running into his life as a businessman.“
For Kipchoge, running extends far beyond medals and records. “For me, running is not only about competition. It is about living a healthy and meaningful life. It is about consistency and respect for the process. That is why I am proud to stand with a partner who shares these values, and who continues to run with dedication alongside leading such a great company.”

The marathon legend expressed optimism about the future of the partnership, which he hopes will extend beyond China to Africa. “I look forward to growing our relationship, both here in China but also in Africa, step by step, with purpose.”
