HANIFA ADAN ADMITTED FOR EAR SURGERY AFTER YEAR-LONG STRUGGLE

Renowned activist Hanifa Adan has been admitted to hospital to undergo her long-awaited ear surgery.

On March 9, Hanifa shared the news with her followers, “Finally finally finally admitted and having my surgery tomorrow in sha Allah, alhamdulillah. Please please do keep me in your prayers thank you so much.“

The announcement came after a difficult year during which Hanifa had been “moving from hospital to hospital trying to get surgery for my ears, and they’re getting worse by the day. I could wake up and don’t hear anything at all.” Private hospitals had quoted her over Ksh500,000 per ear more than Ksh1 million total making the procedure expensive.

However, within hours of her admission announcement, speculation began circulating on social media that Hanifa’s surgery was being facilitated through SHA. The activist was quickly to correct the social media users. “Goodness. I said ‘in sha Allah’ not SHA. SHA paid for nothing. I couldn’t even register because the system is down. SHA is scam until the end because people are stuck in hospitals. Mea akili.”
