‘I NEED YOU TO HELP ME’ MARAGA MAKES EMOTIONAL APPEAL TO KENYANS
Former Chief Justice David Maraga has made an appeal to Kenyans to help fund his political campaign, saying he wants to reset, rebuild, and restore the country.
In a statement addressed to the nation, Maraga asked fellow citizens to contribute donations to his campaign, promising that such support would keep him accountable to the people.
“Fellow Kenyans, I need you to help me reset, rebuild and restore Kenya,” Maraga said. “I have chosen to run a campaign that is funded by you, ordinary Kenyans. I am appealing to you to make a donation to the campaign.“
He added, “If my campaign is funded by donations from you, the everyday Kenyan, then it becomes OUR campaign. And I will be accountable to you, the everyday Kenyan.”
This is not the first time Maraga has made bold promises. In October 2025, he announced a historic commitment to ensure 50 percent representation for women in his government if elected.
He made the pledge during an address at the UGM National Women League Convention, reinforcing his long-standing advocacy for gender equality and constitutionalism.
Maraga’s record on gender issues dates back to his time as Chief Justice. In 2020, he made a landmark move by advising then-President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve Parliament due to its repeated failure to enact the two-thirds gender rule.
Speaking to party members and supporters at the time, Maraga said the 50 percent promise not just as a policy but as a core principle of his campaign. “We all have to be part of this movement for integrity and true inclusion,” he said.
