JOHANA NG’ENO’S WIDOW NAIYANOI ENDORSED TO CONTEST EMURUA DIKIRR PARLIAMENTARY SEAT

Naiyanoi Ng’eno, widow of the late Johana Ng’eno, has been endorsed by her family and the Kapkaon Clan to run for the Emurua Dikirr MP seat left vacant by her late husband.

The endorsement followed a meeting held at her Mogondo residence on Thursday, March 12. The late Johana, who was Emurua Dikirii MP, perished in a helicopter crash on February 28. His sudden death left the constituency without leadership, sparking discussions about who would carry forward his legacy.

During the meeting at her matrimonial home, clan elders gathered not only to offer their condolences but also to deliberate on the future of the constituency. They unanimously agreed to push for Naiyanoi’s candidature, believing she is best placed to continue her husband’s work.

This decision aligns with the wishes of her late husband’s mother, Mary Temas. During Ngeno’s funeral on March 6, she made an emotional appeal to residents and leaders to ensure the seat remained within the family. She stressed that her late son’s legacy should live on through the children he supported in their education and the guidance he offered to the community.

To the president, all leaders from this region, and the great people of Emurua Dikirr, the MP seat will not leave this family of ours. The seat will remain in the family,” Temas declared at the burial.

If Naiyanoi accepts the elders’ call and successfully contests the seat, she would join a growing number of young women taking up political leadership roles in the country.
